Asha's Kisses by RaShelle Workman

Volume One in this new Ever After series that retells the story of Sleeping Beauty and takes place in the BLOOD AND SNOW world.

“By day’s end on her eighteenth birthday, she will be stabbed through the heart… and die!” ~ Mizrabel

Seventeen-year-old Asha has always preferred to stay out of the spotlight, but during a rehearsal for her high school's rendition of Romeo and Juliet she realizes that starring in the right kind of role might be better than she thought.

Series Summary:
Cursed as a baby by a malevolent sorceress, Asha is left without the protection of her fairy magic. Her parents, fearing for their daughter’s safety, enlist the help of their three most trusted guards—who whisk Asha into the human world under a blanket of magic.

For nearly eighteen years Asha has lived as a normal human, doted on by her three aunts.

Without magic.
Without her parents.
And, without the knowledge of her curse.

But that’s about to change.

One night, a few weeks before graduation, Asha decides to disobey her aunts’ rules and go to a party. When she arrives, there’s a bonfire, lots of beer, and a mysterious guy named Paxton. No one seems to know who he is. Asha can’t stop staring at him. He’s everything her aunts have told her to stay away from.

When Paxton saves her from the overzealous actions of a drunken classmate, their lives become inexplicably intertwined. His touch rouses more than her desire for him. It awakens her long-hidden magic.

My Review:

Asha's Kisses is the retelling of the Sleeping Beauty...Asha lives with her Aunts (similarities to the fairy in the Disney movie) because as an infant she was cursed.  Asia's life is just like any typical teen but that all changes when she falls for the ever popular Lawson.  One night she is saved by a mysterious boy named Paxton who seems to have awakened her magic.

RaShelle is an amazing author and I absolutely loved this story.  The story is very short and left us wanting to know more but I have a feeling there is still a lot in store for Asha :)

West (History Interrupted) by Lizzy Ford

College graduate Josephine “Josie” Jackson answers ‘yes’ to the question on a survey while visiting an Old West tourist trap. The next morning, she wakes up in Indian Territory in the 1840s, where she’s given a mission to complete before she can return to her time: to reset history by finding and stopping the man responsible for a horrific massacre.

It seems easy enough, until she discovers that three other women have been sent back to the same time period. When Josie uncovers what happened to them, she realizes the chances of her getting out of the past alive are not good.

To survive, she’ll have to trust the very man she’s there to stop, someone who has every reason to distrust her and only one reason to help her - to prove he’s not the monster she claims he’ll become.

My Review:

Josie is on a trip to the Old West with her Aunt & Uncle, while on this trip she meets a guy and next she knows she's in the 1840"s where she has to a mission to change history by stopping the man responsible.  While trying to figure out who and what it is she must stop, she learns that there were other girls and those girls never got out alive.   Josie now knows she has to figure out why the other girls never made it out alive and in the process save her own.

Lizzy's time-traveling books are so well written and captivating that its so hard to put them down.  I must admit at first I wasn't into the whole time-traveling thing but as the story went on I needed to know what the heck was going to happen to her...Definitely a must read!!

Phoibe (Omega Beginnings Short Story) by Lizzy Ford

With a speech impediment and learning disability, the frail six-year-old Crown Princess of Greece is constantly being told she’ll never live up to the woman her mother was. She’s the only descendent of the sacred Bloodline, the royal family touched by the Greek Gods ten thousand years before, and protected by international law.

But Phoibe doesn’t care about any of that. She wants to be loved by someone, and that someone is a mysterious shadow named Lantos who talks to her when no one else will.

Before leaving, the gargoyle Mismatch made her promise never to speak aloud again, or she’ll seal her fate, and the family curse will claim her. She obeys him – and faces the wrath of cruel caretakers sworn to ensure the curse comes to pass.

When Mismatch doesn’t return to save her, young Phoibe must make her first grown-up decision: accept the curse or trust the shadowy creature who tries to help her.

My Review:

At the age of 6, Phoibe is the next in line to be queen.  She is being taken care of by the High Preistress who treats her badly because she has a speech problem (a lisp).  Being the next in line of this bloodline, Phoibe is the next to be cursed (she will be turned into a gargoyle).  Mismatch wants to save her from this terrible fate but when he doesn't show up as promised, she has to make a very tough decision for someone her age.

This series keeps getting better as each short story comes out.  I am truly enjoying reading about all the characters and getting to know them....I can't wait to see where this all goes!!

Mismatch (Omega Beginnings short story) by Lizzy Ford

Mismatch hasn’t always been a statue standing guard over the Temple of Artemis. Once upon a time, thousands of years ago, he was a man who led a privileged life. Like the Greek monarchs before him, he fell victim to the family curse: he was turned to stone and forced to keep watch over the temple of a Greek god or goddess.

Out of the blue, five-year-old Alessandra breaks the spell. Mismatch seeks out the shy, young crown princess next in line to the family curse and warns her about her fate in the hopes of saving her from the living death.

He returns when Alessandra is in danger, but the powers behind those seeking her are prepared for anything.

Even the grotesque prince.

My Review:

This books tells you more about Mismatch the gargoyle that Alessandra wakes up in the first short story.   Mismatch is learning to "live" again after being a gargoyle for so long but doing so he also must protect Alessandra.  Mismatch thinks that the only way he can do this is by looking for Phoibe, royal heir to the bloodline (thing is Phoibe is only 6 years old).

Like the first story, this one is very captivating.  I enjoyed the addition of Phoibe and learning more about Mismatch...looking forward to the next one!

Alessandra (Omega Beginnings short story) by Lizzy Ford

Five-year-old Alessandra is obsessed with Disney movies, tea parties and just wants a real birthday party for once in her life. But normal kids don’t bring their toys to life for afternoon tea or see the colorful threads of magic and energy clinging to everything around them.

Normal kids don’t know that gargoyles feel pain, either, or invite one to live in their closet.

On her sixth birthday, Alessandra begins to learn the truth. She’s special, and the men in the black van are coming for her.

My Review

Alessandra isn't just your normal little girl, she has the ability to bring her stuffed animals to life and not just them she can bring Gargoyle's to life as well.  The Gargoyle she brings back to life is there to protect her because she is in danger and needs someone who will be willing to protect her at all costs.

This is a great short story and from the way it ends you know there is going to be a lot more coming out from Lizzy.  I can't wait to wait to read more in the series.

Across the Ages by RaShelle Workman

hosts are real. So is time travel.

Eighteen-year-old Lucy Channing discovers this reality after her dead grandmother gives her a beautiful locket. As soon as her fingers brush the cold copper, Lucy is swept out of the nineteenth century and into the twenty-first.

The first person she encounters is twenty-year-old William Godwin. He’s uber-rich, arrogant, exciting, and oh so handsome.

William agrees to help the strange girl find her way home. Or into the nearest mental institution.

But what the two uncover reveals more than ghosts and time travel. Lucy and William discover a love greater than time itself.

A love so strong it reaches...

Across the Ages.

My Review:

This books takes place over two time periods; both the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries.  Lucy is given a locket from her grandmother and one touch brings her forward in time which leads her to William whom is willing to help her get home.  Lucy meets up with a man whom she learns is her grandfather and that she has time travelled to find her true love.

RaShelle has once again written a fantastic book.  I enjoyed reading the love story that takes place over time and how well she pieced the two era's together.  The characters and the story are very well written...you will not be disappointed!

Two for Love by Lynne SilverLynne

Cruising for Love
When Andi Greene heads out on a cruise, she’s pumped for a fun week of sun bathing with her best friend. Little does she know her best friend has surprises in store. The first is the cruise’s theme of BDSM. The other? Ship’s doctor Jonah Coleman, Andi’s first love, her high school boyfriend —the boy she thought she’d marry before he moved across the country and dropped her cold. But there’s nothing cold about their reunion. Sparks fly, and Andi’s relaxing cruise turns into a week of hot loving.
Jonah can’t believe he’s getting a second chance with Andi , who might need more than he knows how to give. But he’s willing to put everything on the line to find out if the heat between them is just the remnants of teenage love or more. And even though he has to let her go again, he’s determined she’ll never forget him.

Waiting on Love
After a disastrous vacation breakup with the man who was supposed to be The One, KK O'Brien decides she’s done. Love will find her when the time is right. On her flight home, she’s seated next to a male soldier, Aidan Dominguez, whom she ignores, because one: he is male, two: he’s younger than her, and three: he’s on his way to be deployed overseas. When weather grounds her flight, she agrees to a drink with Aidan. After all, he’s leaving the country and she’s done projecting wedding bells onto encounters with men. KK knows this is nothing more than a one-night stand with a sexy soldier. It’s her patriotic duty to send him off to war with a good last memory.
Aidan and KK have a great night together and they part with the expectation that they’ll never see each other again. A few weeks later, the first email from Aidan arrives. Once she replies, another arrives, and soon an epistolary love affair blossoms where love was never meant to grow.

My Review:

With this book you are getting two stories that are both equally awesome!!

In the first store you have Andi and KK who are on a cruise, little does Andi know but KK has this all planned for her to meet up with her long lost ex-boyfriend Jonah.  Sparks fly for these two again and love is abound on this cruise.    I loved the theme of the cruise which alone makes for an interesting story and I loved how KK understands that there has only ever been one guy for Andi.  I think there is still a story with this couple.

In the second story you have KK who meets Aiden on a flight home.  The two hit it off and end up spending the night together.  Never believing they would see each other again, KK is surprised to receive an email from Aiden weeks later.  The two start a relationship through email that grows into something more than just friends.     I love the dynamic between these two and how even only through communicating mainly through email their relationship grows.

About The Author:

Kamery is not the person who grew up dreaming of the day that she would clutch her very own novel to her chest, tears brimming over the rims of her eyes as she thought about how she'd written it herself, finally! In fact, anything remotely like that didn't even happen until she was actually holding her first book in her hand, amazed that she'd written it and wondering how on Earth she'd managed to do it when it hadn't ever occurred to her to write one until months before. Surprisingly, though, it was just what she never realized she loved doing.

When starting out in life, Kamery had (and still has) big dreams to perform on Broadway. She loves music and acting very much, while she and dance have a love/hate relationship; she would love to do it and every form of dance decides it hates that about her, haha! The one constant she always had between the performing world and the book world were the stories, tales that transported her to other worlds and made her feel like she really could do anything. Finally, she decided she wanted to do that for someone else and sat down to write.

It's been a few years since she held that first book, realizing that she really liked writing and wanted to do more, but the love that blossomed in that moment has only grown. Currently, Kamery works from home in the White Mountains of Arizona, while taking care of her two adorable kids, a girl and a boy, and talking her sweet husband Jake's ear off about the insane amount of characters in her head who are ready to fight to the death for a chance at their own novels. She also gets together with other authors in the family and they all gab together, making up The Royal Court of the Queens of Romance. It truly is a wonderful life!
