Chaps & Cauldrons by M.R. Polish

Candy Bishop's baking career is taking off with more orders than she can keep up with. Word spreads fast when her cupcakes make the man of a customer's dreams fall in love with them.
Too bad the darn things didn't work for her.

Every day Candy's reminded that time isn't on her side. She hates that the fate of her magic relies on whether or not she finds true love.

Determined to avoid falling in love again - at all costs - Drake Evans rolls into town looking for work. Anything to take his mind off his previous relationship. Coming from a big ranch in Montana, he can wrangle with the best of them, and he'd heard the Wild Saddle was hiring.
Something in the man's haunting gaze pushes Candy to make it her personal goal to see Drake smile. But will helping him find happiness lose her everything she holds dear before he accepts her heart?

My Review:

You first meet Candy in Saddles & Spells where she is best friends with Reese who’s clan is cursed to lose their magic if they don’t find true love.  Candy is the town baker and on occasion will add a little something extra to her baked goods J   One day a hired hand on Reese’s farm catches Candy’s eye and she finds herself falling for him.

I have been a huge fan of M.R. Polish for a few years now and this series has not disappointed me yet.  You have love, magic, and humor all mixed together.  I found myself laughing at some of the mishaps and cheering on Candy to get her man J  Pick this book up today, you will not be disappointed if you do!

Witches by Ednah Walters

Raine Cooper’s life should be perfect. She’s an Immortal Seeress, most likely to be elected Prom Queen, and envied by the girls at Kayville High for dating the dreamy quarterback, Torin St. James. Instead, she’s haunted by the smug facial expressions the Norns’ wore during their last meeting.

As a Norn-In-Training, Raine crossed the line long ago when she sided with the Valkyries and Mortal Witches. When the Norns return with demands of their own, Raine feels trapped. Torin tries to convince her that the Norns are manipulating her, but she refuses to listen. At least until the Norns’ demands focus on someone she loves. When Raine refuses to cooperate with them, their punishment is swift and gut-wrenching, turning her pain into fury.

Raine plots revenge on a massive scale and makes deals with unsavory allies. Her goal? Total destruction of the entire Norn race. Raine’s only hope of salvation is Torin, but how much will he sacrifice to save her?

My Review:

Raine is a Norn in training but yet wants to do what she wants.  Her seeress powers are getting stronger and after a brush up with a boy at school she wants to help him but in typical Raine fashion things don’t go as planned.  Raine is also given her familiar in this book which is a cat and neither of them are happy to be placed with each but throughout the book learn to grown on each other.  As in the other books you have the simply adorable Torin and you see their relationship growing through this one.

I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to see if there is anything else in line for Raine, Torin, Cora  and everyone else J   Ednah is fantastic writer and if you have never read any of her books you need too today!!!

The Fall of Sky (Part 3) by Alexia Purdy

When living the crazy life of a Rock star, no one ever expects to fall from the high.

In the midst of a thriving Rock ‘n Roll career, Liv Westing has pushed the line between love and hate with Jonas Esperanza, the infamous Dos Pistolas Cartel leader with whom she’s entered into an unwanted carnal contract. He has his own game plan by precariously dangling Liv's and his brother Emilio’s hearts in his unforgiving grip of manipulation.

In the meantime, Liv’s sister Audrey has to figure out how to clean up the mess Liv has caused and keep things from falling apart with her boyfriend Saul, a fellow band member. Blood is thicker, even when it’s the one thing keeping the sisters from the life they crave. Audrey and Liv never thought hitting the big time would end up this bittersweet, especially when Jonas’ game turns deadly.

My Review:

In this installment of the series, both woman are doing with feelings for multiple men.  Liv can’t decide if her heart truly belongs to Jonas or to Emilio (Brothers which equals big trouble).  Audrey has feelings for Saul and now Random.  Which man will the sisters choose and where will things go with them?

This is another great installment of the Rock & Roll saga.  So many things left unanswered.  I absolutely loved this series by Alexia Purdy!  Alexia knows how to captive her readers with her writings and I look forward to many more books from her!

The Fall of Sky (Part 4) by Alexia Purdy

Waiting for the encore before the sky falls...
The stunning conclusion to a rock ‘n roll saga that will leave you hanging on until the very last note...

Liv and Audrey Westing have the career of their dreams, but everything is crumbling apart around them. Nothing comes without a price: love tests their boundaries to the limits, being rock stars becomes soul draining in more ways than one, and mandatory obligations overwhelm when no one can escape them alive.

An unexpected twist of fate throws Liv and Audrey off their feet, and the sisters will have to figure out how to con their way out of the grip of Jonas, a powerful and lethal man who heads up an even more deadly Cartel and who will stop at nothing to own them both.

My Review:

This if the conclusion to the Fall of Sky Series.  This book ties up things that were left undone in Part 3 for Liv and Audrey but also throws in a couple twists.  The characters have grown through the series and it was fun seeing the changes in the sisters throughout it. I absolutely loved this series by Alexia Purdy!  Alexia knows how to captive her readers with her writings and I look forward to many more books from her!

Undercover Empath by RaShelle Workman

Nineteen-year-old detective Rose Hansen has a secret. She can read a person’s intentions by touching their hands. It’s a curse! A power she never uses if she can help it.

Only one person knows. Her partner Jack.

At least that’s what she believes until a handsome, shirtless stranger appears on her doorstep in small town Blush Valley, California. He leaves her an envelope, but not before articulating his disappointment in her for ignoring her powers. The contents send Rose on a path toward the supernatural, solving her parents’ murders, and possibly even saving the world.

Aside from that, Rose and her partner have two important cases they’re working. The first involves a missing child. The other is the death of a stripper. Ruled a murder, a very hot FBI agent from L.A. shows up and is given lead. To make matters worse, he asks her to go undercover.
Her life is a disaster. Rose can’t strip. She doesn’t even own a dress.

My Review:

Rose is 19 years old and is an empathy (can read a person’s intentions by the touch of their hands).  Rose is also a very  young cop who is very good at what she does.  While investing the murder of her parents, Rose is asked to go under cover for another case and work as a stripper (Rose is not your typical girly girl—she doesn’t even own a dress lol).    There is also possible demon’s involved in this case and it up to Rose, her partner Jack and FBI Agent Vincent

I have been a huge fan of RaShelle’s since I read her Blood and Snow series and I will say that this book was great!  I would’ve loved to have read more but RaShelle has broken this story up into installments.  RaShelle’s writing draws the readers in, making them want more.  You will not be disappointed if you decide to read this! I know I am looking forward to the next book of the series.

I am a wife, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend and a lover. I am many things, been given many labels but I can say that I am just ‘simple complicated’ me.
Always a prolific reader and dabbler in my younger days with short stories, poems and limericks, I am currently working on my first novel ‘Water Weaver’ and I am enjoying the process although it is very different from writing stories as a schoolgirl!
My favourite quote is “You have to “aim high and reach for your dreams”, favourite colour is rich purple and favourite food would be chocolate! My favourite time of day is night-time and I love the moon in all her beautiful phases. My favourite season has always been Autumn/Fall. I love the rain and thunderstorms.
I welcome your company as I walk my path.
