Reclaim Me by A.O. Peart

When the past comes charging back, the choice is never easy.

Abused as a child, Willow Conrad has managed to develop compassion for others early in life. She believes there is some good in every person, even in the “lost souls”. But when Seth, her boyfriend, loses his temper one last time, she is left badly beaten and broken inside.

Jack McCoy has finally grown up. He used to engage in street brawls to release his anger and reassure himself of his own worth. Serving in the Marine Corps and then becoming a firefighter has put his life back on track.

When Jack’s friend asks him to help Willow, he doesn’t hesitate, despite a reckless predicament he narrowly escaped that very evening. But when he stands face-to-face with Willow, he knows his past is back to haunt him.

Will they take the second chance and let not-so-forgotten feelings resurface and blossom, moving past what drove them apart before? Or will Jack relapse into his destructive ways and lose Willow forever?

My Review:

Jack is an Ex-Marine, now working as a firefighter.  Willow is his ex-girlfriend who broke up with him six years ago because he had a temper.  When Jack is asked by a friend to check on her neighbor who just got abused by her boyfriend, he of course went over but to his surprise there is Willow.  After all these years he still loves her but knows that he must take it easy with her to prove that he has changed.

My Review:

The storyline of this one is great, a hard topic to cover but the author does a great job at working it into the love story.  Jack and Willow are both great characters and I love the supporting characters and can't wait to read more of the McCoy's.  Great job Angela, another fantastic book!!!

Excerpt1
“I’m warning you. You have until the count of five to show yourself before I…”
“Before you what, exactly?” a male voice responded confirming my suspicions, but the suddenness and close proximity threw me off. I stumbled over something hard and toppled backwards.
He caught me before my head hit the hard packed ground. “Careful now, sweetheart.” His voice was deep with a rough raspy edge to it. I looked up to thank him and met the most gorgeous pair of eyes I’d ever seen.
Mossy-green eyes held me captive. Both beautiful and frightening they looked far to pretty to be normal human eyes. The otherness of them gave it away before he could confirm it. He was a vampire. Adding to my confusion, there was no malice in his tone. The opposite in fact, his words were calm and soothing. Though dimly lit, I could make out his features and the quirky smile across his face as he helped me stand again. Not exactly what I had expected from someone rummaging through my family’s barn late at night.
Dumbfounded, I stared too long without saying anything, and it was he who broke the awkward silence.
“You know, they have these new things called Imagers. You could just freeze mine, put it in a frame, and stare at that all day.”
“I’d much rather stare at the real thing.” I’d always spoke freely… whatever came to mind, consequences be damned, but at that moment, what had escaped my lips had me turning beet red.
“I’d let you stare at me all day, but that’s when I get my beauty rest.” After flashing me a very toothy grin, he dusted some of the hay off my shirt and pants. “How about you stare for the rest of the night instead?”
I was too worked up, processing what I’d just seen to notice he was flirting back at me. He was a vampire. A real, live, vampire. Were vampires living? That was beside the point. There was a vampire standing scant inches away from me and for the life of me I had no idea what to do about it. Sure, I’d been schooled on proper procedure. Keep them talking while you tapped the emergency code on your bracer, but that would bring the patrols and a lot of attention, quite the opposite of the nice quiet evening I had planned. On the other hand, there was a vampire here. A real one, talking to me. I could pick his brain for hours about what life was like for him. I’d read so many stories.
“Uh… are you okay?”  he began to say, and I realized I was still standing there, jaw halfway to the floor

He’s a vampire! That was all my brain would process. I was stuck, and needed to shake the shock of it from my system before I ended up a blathering idiot. Wake up, Mira! “Oh. Yeah. Who the hell are you? And what are you doing in my barn?” That was not what I’d meant to say but the disconnect between my mouth and brain was too much to overcome at that moment.

Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Wicked RWB Banner

We are over the moon excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for Jennifer L. Armentrout's WICKED! WICKED is a New Adult Paranormal Romance and the first book in Jennifer’s Wicked Trilogy!

  Wicked

Amazon ** Barnes and Noble ** iBooks ** Kobo

WICKED Synopsis: Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans. Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart. Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her. But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.   Wicked Teaser 1   Excerpt:
He left me standing there as he disappeared into the bathroom, and I tried to make sense of what just happened. All I knew was that the punch-in-the-chest sadness that came whenever I thought of Shaun wasn’t there. And I didn’t know what to make of that.
Or anything.
Taking a deep breath, I put my clothes on his dresser and all but dashed into the bed, and good Lord, the mattress was comfy! I scooted to the middle and froze, having no idea what side he slept on or if he had a side. I totally had a side—always the furthest away from closet doors because I was a dork. Straightening the shirt out so my undies weren’t saying hi to the world, I tugged the blanket up to my hips and lay flat on my back.
I so needed an adult to explain to me what the hell I was supposed to do from this point on.
There wasn’t much time to stress over it because Ren returned from the bathroom. His ever-present half grin spread as he saw me. I clutched the blanket, my breath caught in my throat. My heart pounded so fast that I wondered if I was going to have a heart attack, and God, wouldn’t that be embarrassing. I swallowed nervously and willed my heart to slow.
Turning off the lamp, shadows fell around Ren, but when he faced me, I could tell that he’d frozen. I couldn’t make out his expression as he bent, taking a hold of the covers on his side.
“Ivy?”
“Hmm?”
He slowly edged the covers back from his side and climbed in, and although I couldn’t make out his eyes, I knew he was watching me. “I’m happy that you’re here.”
My fingers eased off the blanket.
As he stretched out beside me, my eyes adjusted to the lack of light, and I could see that he was smiling. “Are you?”
“Yeah,” I whispered.
“Good. That’s all I wanted to hear.”
Wow, the warmth that flooded my chest could’ve turned me into a puddle of goo in that bed. I waited for him to make a move on me, but seconds ticked by. He seriously was behaving himself. I dared a quick peek at him, and found I could not look away.
Ren lifted his arm closest to me, and a heartbeat passed. I hesitated for a moment, and then, my heart pounding even more, I slid over until my leg brushed his. He curved his arm around my waist and drew me up against his side, guiding me down until I was nestled against his warm, bare chest. Another moment passed and then I lowered my cheek, and the simple pleasure of lying like this nearly broke me right open.

About the Author
M.R. Polish was born in Idaho, a long, long, long, maybe not that long time ago.... Writing has always been there for her. Growing up, her mind was filled with stories, some she shared and others she filed away to write down later in life. It wasn't until 2011 that she decided to publish her stories for everyone to enjoy. Her first award and when writing became more than just an idea was in the 5th grade. She won the scary story contest for the school newspaper. It is one story she still has tucked away for memories. Her teacher told her she could be anything she wanted and that she had a talent for writing, being creative and drawing people into her stories. M.R. took that to heart and continued to write, although mostly in secret until recent years.
She lives in Nevada and enjoys life with her family - wrangling her four kids, setting traps in the house with toys for unsuspecting victims (aka, her husband) and writing down all her crazy and fun stories.

Witch Hunt #2
Barefoot, but dressed, she scanned the hotel room. It definitely wasn’t hers. Her bed was on the opposite wall, and without turning on a light—which she refused to do afraid she’d wake the strange man—the décor didn’t even come close to hers at the MGM.
Oh crap. What happened? The last thing she remembered was casino jumping with her best friend, Candy, who was nowhere in the room that Alice could see. The drinks they served in Vegas snuck up on an unseasoned girl celebrating her twenty-first birthday, and everything after the fifth drink was missing in her mind. Man, she was definitely a light weight.

Excerpt: Would you?
There’s something odd about this guy. Not in a bad way, just like a lost puppy that clung to the first human to show it kindness. The combination of Hollywood looks – but no clue how to talk to women – and his over the top enthusiasm about meeting me were endearing. I liked him almost immediately.
“What if I told you that all this,” he waved at the pictures on the window, “could’ve been prevented? That one man started a chain of events that ended with the near destruction of the native peoples of North America?” His eyes glowed, and he became animated, his hands complementing his words with flourishes. “Just one man. Someone who may not have known the impact of what he did? Maybe he made one tiny choice, like you did this morning when you put on black yoga pants instead of jeans.”
I wasn’t able to stop my smile. His passion was apparent. “I’d say that’s an amazing discovery. But … does it matter now?” I asked, puzzled.
“Have you ever seen Doctor Who?”
I laughed. “Yeah.”
“Just … pretend I’m the Doctor and you’re my companion and we can go back to any point in time. Okay?”
I nodded.
“One man in the eighteen forties made a single choice that forever changed the landscape –”
“His pants,” I said, grinning.
“– right or something else. Whatever it was, he did it on September twenty fourth, eighteen forty-two. So he does this one thing, and bam. The lives of nearly a million Native Americans and tens of thousands of pioneers are lost over the course of a century.”
My eyes returned to the pictures. This … speech, if it could be called that, was a bit morbid. I understood his point, even if I didn’t really get why we were playing this hypothetical game.
“What would you do if you could go back in time?” he asked. “Would you stop him if it saved a million lives?”
“Yeah. Who wouldn’t?”
“There are some people who think history is chiseled in stone, that it shouldn’t change, even if we could.”
