Abused wife, Jill Thompson knows she has to get out of her bad marriage. Like yesterday. With no money, no job and no friends, this small town girl can’t find a safe harbor. But when she sees a news report that The Program, a US military base, is seeking women to be matches for their genetically enhanced soldiers, she sees her opportunity. If she is lucky enough to be a match, her snake-mean husband, Jack, won’t be able to find her, let alone hurt her ever again.
Rowan Blacker, is the only soldier of his cohort to request a breed match. He’s the newest soldier on campus and thanks to his genetic defect, he feels like an outcast. Matching and breeding with a woman will help him fit in with the team. Unfortunately Rowan’s match is nothing like the sexy, fun woman he was hoping to romance. The woman they claim is his perfect DNA match, is a scared shell of a woman carrying a trunkful of emotional baggage. Against their better judgment, they move in together and as Jill shakes off the shackles of abuse, their attraction ignites.
Engineered with superior strength, agility and acumen, the genetically enhanced soldiers of the top secret Program do the dangerous assignments no one else can. Now, they’re tasked with one additional job. Breed.
But finding and convincing their perfect DNA match they are the right men for the job may be their most dangerous mission to date. And the hottest. Good thing, they’re Coded for Love.
By day, Lynne Silver lives the suburban soccer mom life; volunteering with the PTA, doing laundry and working. By night she enters the sensuous world of alpha males and passionate heroines. She calls the nation’s capital home and lives in an old fixer-upper with her husband and their two sons. When not writing romance, she reads it. Lots of it. Over and over and over again, preferably with a bag of M&Ms in hand.
Finally he stood. “Look, Jill, this has been nice getting to know you, but I think we’re wasting our time. It’s clear I make you uncomfortable, so I’ll let you leave without forcing the issue.” He turned to go, telling himself not to let the disappointment crush him. Jill was only the first attempt. There’d be others. “Bye.”
“Wait,” she said, and it was a cry so desperate it had him spinning back around. “Don’t go. I’ll do better.”
He spun slowly back to face her. “It’s not a test. Well, it is, but it’s not one we control. Either we feel something or we don’t.”
“And you don’t,” she said in a quiet tone he had to strain to hear.
“I didn’t say that. You feel something, but it’s obvious it’s the opposite of what you should be feeling, which is turned on.”
“That’s not true. I think you’re a very handsome man.” She started to unbutton the cardigan again, and he found himself helpless to stop her.
She stripped off the cardigan, which was a shade between brown and vomit, revealing a thin pale pink T-shirt underneath. Thin enough he could see she wore no bra.
“What are you doing, Jill?” He finally found his voice.
“I did a little reading about this place,” she said. “Sex is the true test, right? We’ll know if we’re a match if we have sex.”
and a little something fun....I got Adam, what about you??
I have not read any of the other Coded for Love books in the series but I will tell you that I am hooked! This story starts out with Jill living in an abusive marriage and her only hope of getting out is to join The Program; where she gets matched up with a genetically altered military man. When she finds out she is a match she goes to the compound and meets Rowan who has he own doubts about her but feels he should protect her when he founds out she is being abused. Can Rowan break through Jill's shell and find the girl she used to be and fall in love with him or will she turn out not to be the perfect match?
This was an amazing book and I couldn't put it down once I started! I wanted to know if Jill would get out of her marriage, what would happen to her once she got in the program and of course how things would progress between her and Rowan. Lynne is an amazing author and I am so glad I had a chance to review this book for her. I am a new fan and will be adding her other books to my collection!
