Review - "Ever Winter" by Alexia Purdy

Shade has been left all, but shattered. Travelling to the Ice kingdom, along with her 'body guard' Dylan-who continues to be bound to her-to where the holder of her magic dwells. The war of Faerie amplifies and her only chance to save it will be to resist the enchantments of the Ice King, one of the Ancient rulers of Faerie. But, he has his own agenda and will do anything to stop her from making it to the Summer Kingdom, with her family, to claim back her throne

These Ancients of Faerie don't want her to succeed, and the wards between the land of Faerie and the mortal world are blurring rapidly. Shade must face treacheries in every crevice of the land, even among the human mortals and trusted allies, before all is lost.

My Review:

Shade is bound to Dylan and both of them don't know what they need to do to get unbound.  Her powers have disappeared and the only one that can help her is the same one that may be trying to kill her....the Ice King.  It is he who can give Shade her powers back but at what cost.  Will Dylan and Shade do what it takes to get her powers back or will the Ice King keep them forever in the world of ice??

I am absolutely in love with this series.  The progression of Shade throughout the books is fantastic...she is learning to accept who she is, what she needs to do and how to do it.  There seems to be a lot ahead of her but she has already come so far.  The characters in this book are great and add so much to the story.  Alexia is a fantastic author and knows how to keep a reader engaged in the storyline.
