Review: "Haven from the storm" by Sarah Dosher

“If you’re going to make me cry, at least be there to wipe away the tears…”

Most were asleep in their beds the night Lily Grace’s entire world was ripped apart, leaving only darkness and torment in its place. The only remaining person she depended on abandoned her without a second thought…or so that’s what Lily has believed for the past four years.

Dean Haven has returned for one reason—to win Lily’s love again. He’s already broken her heart because of the demons that haunt him. Can his desire for Lily keep him from succumbing to those demons again?

Dean has no idea what awaits him when he tries to fight his way back into Lily’s life. Everything he remembers has changed, including Lily.

Is love enough when you’re forced to weather the storms life has blown your way?

Due to content and subject matter, suggested for readers 16 years of age and older.

My review:

This book takes place before “haven from the storm” and resolves mostly around Easton and the type of person he was.  Easton faces the brunt of abuse doing this story in the hopes that he will protect Lily from being a victim.  He is doing this as best as he can until the night of his graduation party, a girl shows up and he is instantly drawn to her..she is familiar but he doesn’t know why.  Taylor spent a few weeks with her aunt and that is where she became friends with a younger Lily and ends up falling in love with Easton. Years later the two of them are reunited but can Easton let go of his demons and confide or Taylor or will he keep his secrets close and lose the girl of his dreams before the impending storm?

A great prequel to the “Haven from the Storm”.  I enjoyed reading about Easton and the type of person that he was.  He was a boy that had to grow up faster than needed in order to protect his sister.  This is a love story like no other and if you read the first book you already know what happens to Easton.   I enjoyed reading about the lives the Lily, Dean and Easton prior to the tornado and the connection between them.  Easton & Dean were best friends, Lily was in love with Dean and of course there are many secrets/twists throughout this one that will answer some questions that you may have been asking through “Haven From the Storm”.

A great prequel to a great first book.  Add this one to your library!
