With a death starts a new beginning...
Eighteen-year-old Esmerelda thinks she’s just a normal girl, but all of that changes the day of her mom’s funeral, when a warlock, intent on using her special powers, kidnaps her. Powers she didn’t know existed. Thrown in the middle of a magical battle, Es struggles to learn her magic while fleeing both vampires and warlocks, at the same time, hunting for the witches that can help defeat her adversary. The only problem is that they are dead.
Thankfully, she has the help of Jarak—her Guardian—who quickly captures her heart, but she wonders if she can win his? Just when she thinks Jarak is the one for her, Ian appears with daggers drawn to save Es from a vampire attack. Ian is cocky and rude, but there is something magnetic about him—something that attracts her to him. With her heart torn between two men, she faces the foes that are out for her blood.
Can Es do the unthinkable and awaken the witches from their graves before time runs out?
Esmeralda’s mom just died and she is dealing with the void that her death has caused. While at her mom’s funeral, Esmeralda is taken away by a warlock who needs her magic. Esmeralda doesn’t know what is going on but soon finds out that her mother isn’t dead that she is a witch who is in the process of turning into a vampire and needs her help.
Jarak, is Esmeralda’s guardian but there is something stirring between the two of them but all Es knows is that she feels safe when he is near. Oh wait now to make things even more difficult, Ian shows up. Ian is Jarak’s brother and has been called to help protect Esmeralda and her friend from those that want her dead…yup big uh oh for Esmeralda as she can’t help thinking about Ian know. Can Es help stop all the half breeds from starting a war? Who will Es go to, Jarak or Ian? Will Es be able to accept her powers and be the true witch that she is meant to be?
Okay so some of those questions can not be answered in this one book (haha, yup there is a second book) however this one was awesome! Esmeralda is thrown into a world that she thought was just a fairy tale and she has the attitude to go with it I love how Es will do whatever she can to help those who she loves and has the people around her that will help her accomplish this.
The story moved along at a great pace and was filled with action right from the beginning. I found myself not being able to put the book down because I had to find out what happened next. I absolutely loved the characters, they all made the book that much better….*sigh* Ian’s attitude and snide remarks was absolutely great and found myself enjoying the sections with him in it ;)
Definitely add this one to your library!!
